2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

In case you missed it, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced this year's inductees. Last year when the nominees were announced, I presented the performers that I voted for on the online poll. I thought it would be fun to see how they matched up with the actual inductees!

This was the first year that the fans actually had an opportunity to have one collective vote in the induction process. The online voting system was setup so that up to 5 performer nominees could be selected. I chose four nominees: Rush, Heart, Donna Summer, and Public Enemy. I'm proud to say that all of the nominees I voted for made it in! Here was the official announcement that happened on Dec 11, 2012...

Joining the four performers mentioned above are legendary blues guitarist Albert King and Disney/Pixar film score producer Randy Newman. Also joining the performers is producer/manager Lou Adler and the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to producer/arranger Quincy Jones.

The Rock Hall has also recently announced some details regarding the induction ceremony that will take place on April 18, 2013. John Mayer will perform and induct Albert King. Eagles frontman and 1998 inductee Don Henley will give the induction speech for Randy Newman. Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguiera will perform in honor of the late Donna Summer. Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins will handle the induction of Rush. More details will be announced at a later date

This is a very diversified induction class. The rock, rap, blues, pop, and disco genres are all represented which should make for a great induction show! I still feel the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't perfect. Some of the snubs still left are pretty appalling to me, since more than just the rock-n-roll genre are inducted. But having said that, I do believe that the 2013 class is pretty worthy.
