Recurrent Events 4/23/16: MTV Unplugged Returning, 'Taxi Driver' 40th Reunion, 'Three's Company' Movie Adaptation

Welcome to your weekly source for retro pop culture news, the Recurrent Events! Well, 2016 has claimed yet another music icon. I view the impact of Prince's music in the '80s equal to artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Phil Collins and a few others. As it's been said many times this week, he was a true original and so many artists aspired to have a career like he did. He was the definition of "multi-talented", excelling on electric guitar but able to perform professionally on so many other instruments. Combine those talents with a vocal range that any singer would dream of and you have a true one-of-a-kind artist. He will be greatly missed, but his music legacy past and present will continue to live on for many years.

I wanted to give a quick shout-out to Chad E. Young from Horror Movie BBQ for reviewing not one but two comics this week for RD80s! Lion Forge and their kid-centric label Roar Comics continues to produce some great new series based on '80s properties. I truly have a backlog of comics I want to review and I appreciate Chad tackling a couple for me. I hope he'll come back from time-to-time and perhaps anyone else interested in reviewing comics will let me know.

Coming up this week is Alien Day on Tuesday April 26! Be sure to come back as I'll be posting another Watch & Win review/giveaway thanks to Entertainment Earth. And then the following week will feature Star Wars Day (May 4th) and yet another review and contest! Some great stuff coming up you won't want to miss! I mentioned before that RD80s' sister site Rad Retro Stuff has returned so make sure you are connected to get recent announcements like giveaways, deals, coupon codes, and more in your inbox or feed.
