Recurrent Events 7/16/16: New He-Man Cartoon Debuting At SDCC, 35 Years of Donkey Kong, 'Lost Boys' Gets Comic Sequel

Welcome to your weekly news update for retro pop culture, the Recurrent Events! If you are a regular to this article series, you might have noticed I've added new artwork. You also might remember an accompanying podcast I started late last year to further expand on the weekly headlines. Well, I've decided to have another go at it and reboot the podcast!

I'll be switching up the main format of the show to more of an interactive newscast, in that I'll bring you the headlines each week and also read back your reactions including audio messages! For those that remember the original roundtable format, I'll be sprinkling in those types of shows as bonus episodes to follow up on some of these reboots and such. I'll be releasing the details soon on a special announcement episode in the podcast feed so for now, subscribe to the Recurrent Events feed in your favorite podcast app by searching or connecting on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, or TuneIn. I'll be inviting listeners to leave feedback by tweeting to @recurrentevents and also connecting with "recurrentevents" on Skype for leaving voicemail messages.

I'll be continuing this weekly news update right here, but I also wanted everyone to know that I'm truly serious about the podcast and hope you might be able to help me grow it into what could be my full-time dream job. I'll be debuting a Patreon account very soon for Recurrent Events in which I hope to gain support through fans and sponsors. I'll be talking more about that again in the special announcement episode, but just wanted to end for now by saying thank you for following Recurrent Events and RD80s over the past several years. I live for providing retro pop culture content and I'm eager at the possibility of making it my full time gig.

I mainly had Ghostbusters on the brain this past week in cased you missed it:

I found the music video for Kaskade's latest track "Jorts FTW" this week courtesy Rolling Stone. It's basically a highlight reel of Dukes of Hazzard clips mainly featuring Daisy Duke in her famous "jorts" and practically every other outfit she wore on the show. There are some other clips of car chases but yeah, Daisy is the draw here...
