Recurrent Events Aug 13 2016: R2-D2 Actor Kenny Baker Dies, Pat Benetar Broadway Musical, Amiga Games Now Available Online

Welcome to your weekly news update for retro pop culture headlines, the Recurrent Events! Thankfully we took a break from gender-swap reboot announcements this week, but there was still plenty of rehashing in the news. Speaking of, Michael Bay continues to tease the new Transformers movie on his social media. With it being the 30th anniversary, I've been thinking alot about the original animated Transformers: The Movie enough to preorder on Amazon this week. After waiting a pretty long time for an official Blu-ray/DVD release, I'm pretty excited to own it again. I picked up a VHS copy I believe at Wal-mart about when video cassettes finally became extinct. A co-worked borrowed it at my previous job and 15 years later I'm still waiting for him to return it.

I think I'm going to quit hyping what I'm working on for the upcoming week because it seems like I never follow though with the articles in a timely fashion. I doubt anyone is waiting with baited breath for that Bodacious Breakdown I promised last week, but I think I'll keep my upcoming articles a surprise for those of you follow RD80s.

Here are the articles released this past week in cased you missed it:
So besides the aforementioned RetroSFX videos I stumbled onto this week, my favorite thing to watch was Rick Astley rocking out to AC/DC. Do I have a strange Rick Astley obsession? Maybe, but this was more "wow factor" than anything. "He can play drums? Wait, he listens to AC/DC?"
