Recurrent Events 5/7/16: New M.A.S.K. Comic Series, Nintendo-Themed Vans Shoes, First Interview with Axl Rose and AC/DC

Welcome to your weekly source for retro pop culture news, the Recurrent Events! This is an epic Saturday at my house. First, my middle child turns 9 years old today and we'll be going on a little celebratory tour around town today. It's also Free Comic Book Day so were are headed to our local comic shop to snag a few. (Check out the complete list of freebies.) Toys R Us is also hosting a free LEGO Star Wars event today at all stores! Kids get to build and keep a mini Millennium Falcon plus go on a puzzle-solving hunt. I imagine we'll be spending some birthday money there as well so should be a really fun day!

This is the 2nd week in a row that RD80s is hosting a giveaway! Enter the Watch & Win: Star Wars C-3PO 3D Deco Wall Light giveaway now and put some Star Wars in your home! There is still a few days left to enter and for those who have already entered, go back to the widget daily and tweet again to earn more entries!

Also, I'm on the hunt for some contributors to the RD80s website. If you are interested in reviewing some comic books, game apps, or even writing articles, please email me so we can chat. Right now, I can't offer much as far as compensation but it is an opportunity for thousands of people to get to know you and your work. If you currently blog or host a website, I'm happy to promote that with each article.

Here are the articles posted this week on RD80s:

Gizmodo introduced me to the Video of the Week and a fun paper stop-motion film featuring several classic video games. Really cool how creator MysteryGuitarMan transitions between the games. Check it out!
