Recurrent Events Update: Sir John Hurt Dies At 77, IDW Discontinues 'Jem' Comic, Aerosmith Farewell Tour

Welcome to the Recurrent Events weekly news update for retro pop culture headlines, links, videos, and more! RD80s hit a social media milestone this week by passing 10,000 followers on Twitter! I don't take that likely, but do take it as I must be doing something right for everyone to join in the '80s fun. As a thank you, look for a new giveaway tweet this weekend. A winner was chosen for this past week's Facebook giveaway so be sure to connect on both platforms as my prize bin is still pretty full!

I launched a new t-shirt design campaign this week featuring the original ambassadors of Double Dragon! Spike and Hammer were the characters originally used to market the game both on arcade flyers and on the marquee of the game itself. My design combines the characters with the title screen lettering for a two-sided shirt that will be sure to deter any Shadow Warrior activity. Order yours now and help support the site!

Here are some recent RD80s articles posted in cased you missed them:
It seems like I have to keep apologizing for my "easily amused" spirit. So again, I'm sorry but Mario farting across the mushroom kingdom got the best of me this week. Thank you Laughing Squid...
