Greetings friends to another episode of Memory Jogger. Episode 61 of Memory Jogger is a collaboration with a new podcast friendship with The Long Rewind (TLR) podcast. Dustin and Wyatt discuss video rental stores, our experiences with them, and the onset of Blockbuster. This is a simulcast episode as TLR will also be airing the same episode in their library. Be sure to take a listen to the TLR podcast and take a look below at Wyatt's memories of the video rental stores he visited in Clearfield, PA.
Within the Clearfield Mall sat a video rental store. While Wyatt cannot locate any old photographs, the photograph below shows where the video store was located, just to the right. Also, in this small alcove is where Jason and Wyatt noted that the Hillshire Farm stand would be setup during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Another video rental store still has their roadside sign in place approximately 40 years later along South 2nd Street aka Old Town Road in Clearfield, PA. Video Stars was located in the two story building closest to the roadway, in the foreground.

Silverscreen Video, some times called Kentucky Fried Video according to our late friend Jason Gross, was located in the former KFC building (thus the nickname) and had remained active until approximately 2020. The undated photo shows a wintery appearance while if you visit Jason and Wyatt's Memory Jogger the Movie, you can see it was still around in 2018. In addition, Wyatt has included the membership card that he still possesses.

Finally, the lone remaining Blockbuster Video in which we discuss is pictured below. Do you plan or have you visited this Blockbuster Video? Do you have memories of your hometown video rental stores? We'd love to hear about them!
