RD80s News: Ronald LaPread Passes at 75

Founding member of the Commodores, Ronald LaPread has passed away at the age of 75 in Auckland, NZ due to a "sudden medical event."

The Grammy Award winner performed as the Commodores' bassist with other co-founders Lionel Richie, Milan Williams, Thomas McClary, William King, and Walter Orange.  He performed with his bandmates from 1970 to 1986.

Born and raised in Clearfield, on the back roads is where I spent most of my days. Chillin' at Beef's or snackin' at Sheetz, with a couple of guys that were always good. We never caused trouble in the neighborhood. Spotting for deer never made us scared, but the fear of running out of gas made us get back there. I pulled 180s and donuts, while my friends and family think I'm nuts. All in all, it's hip to be square.
