If there is one thing that I miss most about growing up in the 80s, it's watching Saturday morning cartoons! There was nothing like pouring yourself a bowl of your favorite cereal and getting up early to watch great cartoon shows. So why can't we relive a little of that now? Thanks to Youtube, we can still watch full episodes of those great 80s animated shows (some of which are not yet available on DVD.) So, come rediscover your forgotten Saturday morning cartoons with RD80s Saturday Morning Cartoon Fix! This time the feature cartoon is Saturday Supercade!
I've referenced Saturday Supercade a few times on RD80s including a feature post was a little "prisoner of the moment" covering Frogger. Supercade was a great show that brought our favorite video game characters to life right on our television sets from 1983-84. Seven different mini-episode cartoons were featured over its two season run on CBS including Donkey Kong, Q*Bert, Pitfall Harry, Space Ace, Kangaroo, Donkey Kong, Jr. and the aforementioned Frogger. My personal favorite was Q*Bert, probably because I enjoyed the game so much. Saturday Supercade has never been released to home video, so Youtube is the only place to watch episodes. I managed to put together a mix of mini-episodes for you plus some of the bumpers and commercials taken from an episode in 1984. Some great classic 80s cereal and toy commercials!
