The Weekly Links: 'Facts of Life' Reunion, Super Mario Aquarium, '80s Supermodels Then And Now

Friday is here which means a freshly-linked edition of The Weekly Links! I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of a great blog series going on this month. Marc Nobleman has been reconnecting with several ladies that were featured in '80s music videos over at his Noblemania blog. I've listed several entries from this week in the Music section below. Very cool stuff! Here are some other things I've learned this past week:

  • There's a rumor that Howard the Duck might make a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
  • Who I would put on an '80s Music Mount Rushmore.
  • Someone covered "Another One Bites The Dust" using movie footage of just screams.
  • Stay Puft Marshmallow Man will make an appearance at San Diego Comic Con...in LEGO form.
  • Robocop had an alcohol problem and spent some time going to AA meetings.
  • "Take On Me" wasn't the only music video that used a rotoscoping technique in the '80s.
  • The story behind why Dominos dropped the Noid is pretty sad.
  • I'm pretty good at identifying songs with just one second. Are you?

This week's TWL video of the week is a continuation of an old TV commercial. Thanks to a post from Neatorama, I stumbled onto this video claiming to be the lost footage of the old Grey Poupon TV ad from the '80s. Picking up where the original commercial left off, the lost footage tells the tale of the lender pursuing the borrower to retrieve his bottle of Grey Poupon. What ensues is a James Bond-like car chase including caviar oil slicks and cork machine guns. This video was definitely "one of life's finer pleasures" this week.
