NBA coach Don Nelson passed away at the age of 86 shortly after suffering a stroke on August 9, 2026.

Don Nelson played basketball for 14 seasons before stepping up to become an NBA coach holding a 12 year record of the most wins. Upon the resignation of Larry Costello, the then assistant coach and executive of the Milwaukee Bucks became the head coach and served from 1977-1987. He subsequently resigned from the Bucks in 1987 and moved on to serve with the Golden State Warriors. His career continued until 2010 where he retired.
