Watch the Original Ecto-1 Come Back To Life

About 5 years ago, Sony decided to restore one of my favorite Hollywood vehicles, the original Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters. Their motives were two-fold in that they wanted to promote their full line of mobile audio Xplod® gear and also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original movie release. Sony hired Cinema Vehicle Services, a company who has provided screen used vehicles for over 30 years, to restore the car to its original Hollywood glory and also add hidden new features.

CVS accepted the challenge to restore the 1959 Cadillac and even had it inspected for accuracy and detail when completed by Dan Akroyd. After a recent visit to Youtube, I stumbled onto a 15 minute featurette titled "Ecto-1: Resurrecting the Classic Car" that appeared on the 2009 Blu-ray release of Ghostbusters. It documents the journey from start to finish and even features insight from Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd. I hadn't seen it before and really enjoyed watching the "fifth star" of the film come back to life. Check it out below...
